Renewable energy (RE) and heating is an environmentally friendly option available to every homeowner across Canada. These options include wind turbines, photovoltaics (PV), solar thermal, geothermal heat pump, and microhydro. With the possible threat of another power blackout like the one on Aug. 14, 2003, which affected over 50 million people, RE is an even more reliable source of power. |

Heat pumps are devices that supply more energy than they consume by pumping heat out of the ground to the air inside your home. In the summer, it does the opposite to cool your home. This system is entirely reliable and provides year-round comfort. Only a small amount of electricity is needed to power geothermal systems, cutting utility bills by up to 70 percent. | |
