RENEWABLE  ENERGY  for  Electricity, Heating & Cooling

Renewable energy (RE) and heating is an environmentally friendly option available to every homeowner across Canada. These options include wind turbines, photovoltaics (PV), solar thermal, geothermal heat pump, and microhydro. With the possible threat of another power blackout like the one on Aug. 14, 2003, which affected over 50 million people, RE is an even more reliable source of power.

Sue Drouillard is a CAW Local 444 member who serves as an executive officer on the CAW Windsor Regional Environment Council (CAW WREC). She is a long time environmental activist who’s primary focus is on Renewable Green Energy. We thank her for providing this comprehensive information package.

Solar Thermal Water Heating Systems

Solar water heaters can be a cost-competitive way to generate hot water for a home or small business.

They can operate in any climate and don’t have to be at a perfect angle to generate hot water.  They generate heat even on partial cloudy days.  Can get a reduction of 50 to 85 percent in your utility water-heating bills and will last more than double than a conventional water heater.  You can even heat your above or in-ground swimming pool.  Once it has paid for itself, your hot water is free.  Essex County has an abundant supply of sunshine for solar water heating most of the year.
